PEORIA, Ariz. Drivers and pedestrians near Northern Avenue should prepare for a continuous closure of 107th Avenue north of Northern from Nov. 2 through Nov. 25 as work continues on the eastern end of the Northern Parkway corridor.
The closure is scheduled to begin at 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 2, and remain in place through Wednesday, Nov. 25, according to a traffic notice updated Oct. 14 by the Maricopa County Department of Transportation. Pedestrian access at the intersection will also be closed during that period.
MCDOT said drivers will retain access to the surrounding area through Butler Drive and 111th and 103rd avenues. Detour signs will be posted, and motorists should allow additional time around the work zone. Northern Avenue remains reduced to one lane in each direction between the Agua Fria River and 103rd Avenue.
Utility work requires excavation
The county said the 107th Avenue closure is needed for utility work that requires excavation. No utility service outages are anticipated. Limited overnight work may occur, but MCDOT said it will be scheduled to reduce impacts on nearby residents.
Property access will be maintained during the broader project, although lane shifts and temporary turning restrictions may change as construction advances. Drivers should reduce speed, watch for workers and follow temporary traffic controls. The schedule remains subject to change because of weather, equipment problems or other construction conditions.
The November restriction follows September closures at 110th and 112th avenues for earlier utility and sidewalk work.
Part of a 12.5-mile corridor
The active construction zone covers Northern Avenue from the Agua Fria River to 103rd Avenue. Work began Feb. 25 and is expected to continue into early 2027.
The project includes rebuilt pavement, turn lanes and signal improvements at 107th Avenue, sidewalks on both sides of Northern Avenue from 112th to 103rd avenues, ADA-compliant ramps, roadway lighting and landscaping.
It is one of the final two construction segments in the 12.5-mile Northern Parkway corridor between Loop 303 and U.S. 60. MCDOT says the remaining segment from 103rd Avenue to 91st Avenue near Loop 101 is anticipated to begin construction in early 2027. That timing is a projection and may change.
