Avondale’s Billy Moore Days is underway, with three days of carnival rides still ahead and the city’s historic parade scheduled for Saturday morning.

The annual celebration runs through Sunday, Oct. 25, at Festival Fields Park, 101 E. Lower Buckeye Road. The parade is set for 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday in Old Town Avondale along Central and Western avenues.

Schedule for Friday through Sunday

  • Friday, Oct. 23: Carnival from 6 p.m. to midnight. Single-day wristbands are valid from 6 to 9 p.m.
  • Saturday, Oct. 24: Parade from 9 to 11 a.m. in Old Town. Carnival from 3 p.m. to midnight, with wristbands valid from 3 to 6 p.m. The city lists the main event programming at Festival Fields from 6 to 11 p.m.
  • Sunday, Oct. 25: Carnival from 3 to 10 p.m. Wristbands are valid from 3 to 6 p.m.

The city’s event listing describes live entertainment, food vendors, cultural exhibits and other family activities. The parade listing recommends viewing along Western Avenue or near the turns at Central Avenue and North Sixth Street.

Ride prices and ticket details

Single-day carnival wristbands are listed at $17.99 in advance or $20 on site. On-site wristband purchases are cash only. A wristband applies only during the three-hour window listed for that day, and sales stop one hour before the window ends.

Individual rides require three to six tickets. The carnival operator, Frazier Shows, had offered a multi-day Mega Pass, but the posted purchase deadline was 4 p.m. Thursday. The operator advises visitors to check the ticket seller for final pricing and restrictions because event details may change.

Online buyers can redeem wristbands at the online-sales tent by showing the QR code on a phone or printed copy.

Weather and event status

The event is advertised as rain or shine, except when lightning is within 10 miles, winds exceed 20 mph or the grounds flood. Organizers direct visitors to Avondale Parks and Recreation’s social accounts for weather-related changes.

As of 11:30 p.m. Thursday, the National Weather Service forecast for Avondale called for sunshine Friday through Sunday, with highs near 78 degrees Friday and Saturday and near 80 Sunday.

The history behind Billy Moore Days

Billy Moore established a stagecoach stop near the Agua Fria River in the 1800s and called the settlement Coldwater. The community later became Avondale. The city’s 2025-26 visitor guide describes the annual festival as a celebration of that early history, built around the parade, carnival and local entertainment.

Current details and any same-day changes are available through the City of Avondale events page.
