A man died after being shot multiple times near Main Street and 4th Street in Avondale early Friday, and police closed part of Main Street while they investigated a nearby home.
Avondale officers were called to the area shortly before 4:30 a.m. Sept. 18, according to reports citing the Avondale Police Department. Officers found the wounded man and he was taken to a hospital, where he died.

Main Street closure in Old Town Avondale
Main Street was closed in both directions between 4th Street and 7th Street while officers continued working at the scene. Police expected the closure to last several hours and directed traffic around the area.
The location is in Old Town Avondale, near the Buckeye Road and Dysart Road area. Drivers should use another route and check current conditions before entering the neighborhood.
ABC15 reported that video from the scene showed a large police presence and officers investigating a home. Arizona’s Family reported that Avondale police and a SWAT team were at the scene, with Arizona Department of Public Safety troopers also present.

Police had not publicly identified the man as of 7:30 a.m. They also had not said what led to the shooting, whether a suspect had been identified or whether anyone was in custody.
FOX 10 reported that its information came from the Avondale Police Department. That report also said the shooting occurred at a home near Buckeye and Dysart roads and confirmed the Main Street closure.
