Glendale has moved programs from the temporarily closed Velma Teague Library to the nearby Civic Center Annex while the downtown branch undergoes facility repairs.
The city announced the temporary arrangement Friday, Sept. 11. Events for all ages are continuing at the annex at 5752 W. Glenn Drive, a short distance from the library building at 7010 N. 58th Avenue.
Glendale also said it is working to turn the Civic Center Annex into a temporary full-service library location before the end of 2026. Until that transition is complete, visitors should not assume every normal branch service is available at the annex.
What Glendale has confirmed
The Glendale Public Library announcement says the Velma Teague building is closed for repairs and that scheduled programming has shifted to the Civic Center Annex. The city has not publicly listed a reopening date for the branch or described the specific repairs.
The announcement also does not identify an exact opening date for full library service at the annex. The city’s stated timeline is before the end of the year.
That distinction matters for patrons seeking book pickup, computer access, printing, reference help or other services beyond scheduled events. Residents should verify availability before making a trip.
