Arizona voters have until 11:59 p.m. Monday, Oct. 5, to register or update their registration for the Nov. 3 general election.
The deadline applies across the state, including Surprise, Peoria, Glendale, Goodyear, Avondale, Buckeye and other Maricopa County communities. It matters for people who have never registered, recently moved, changed their name or need to correct information in their voter record.
The Arizona Secretary of State’s 2026 election calendar lists Oct. 5 at 11:59 p.m. as the registration deadline. Maricopa County Elections lists the same date and urges voters to verify their information through BeBallotReady.Vote.
How to register or update a record
Eligible residents with an Arizona driver license or state identification card can register online through AZMVDNow. After signing in, select the option to begin or update voter registration, confirm eligibility and address information, and complete the required fields.
Residents can also submit a paper form by mail or register in person through the county recorder. The Secretary of State’s voter-registration page provides the form and instructions. With the deadline close, voters using a paper or in-person option should confirm the applicable delivery requirements directly with Maricopa County Elections at 602-506-1511.
To register in Arizona, a person must be a U.S. citizen, live in Arizona and the county listed on the registration, and be at least 18 by the next regular general election. State law also limits registration for people whose voting rights have not been restored after a felony conviction and people adjudicated incapacitated by a court.
Arizona requires proof of citizenship for a full ballot covering eligible federal, state, county and local races and ballot questions. The Secretary of State says voters updating an existing Arizona registration generally do not need to resubmit proof of citizenship if it was supplied with the original registration.
Check the address before the deadline
West Valley residents who moved within the region should verify that their registration reflects their current address. A move from one city or precinct to another can change the local races and ballot questions assigned to a voter.
The county’s online voter dashboard allows residents to confirm registration status and contact information. People in the state’s Address Confidentiality Program should use that program’s registration process rather than a standard public form, according to the Secretary of State.
What happens next
Early voting begins and early ballots start going out Wednesday, Oct. 7. Maricopa County says Oct. 23 is the last day to request a ballot by mail and recommends Oct. 27 as the last day to mail a completed ballot back. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3.
Vote centers will open in phases beginning Oct. 7, with additional locations available closer to Election Day. Locations and hours will be posted through Locations.Maricopa.Vote.
Residents should rely on official state and county election sites for registration, ballot and voting-location information. Questions for Maricopa County Elections can be directed to 602-506-1511.
